As a United States of American Citizen, you are familiar with The Declaration of Independence, The Articles of Confederation, The Federalist papers, and the Constitution. (If not, you should be, since these are the documents this nation was founded on. And the laws we all live by and etc., and so on.) And I know in my heart that you have all read these sacred documents. And that you know and have memorized the first ten amendments to the constitution, known as the Bill of Rights.
And I know if I asked any one of you to recite the Bill of Rights, you could easily do it, as easily as you could belt out the ten commandments. I just know this!
I bring this up because of a slogan that has corrupted our society during the twenthith century, and now even more in the twenty first century. That slogan, or cliché is, “we’re making the world safe for democracy”.
I am pretty sure you have all heard that one. We are bringing Democracy to the far corners of the world. Democracy is such a great and noble form of government, everyone should have it. You probably agree. We have all been brainwashed with Democracy. Democracy is the end all and be all for all.
It sounds good, it is supposed to mean something good, and we will do whatever is necessary to spread the word.
It is a rallying cry for politicians, and the military, and a great excuse to intervene in the internal affairs of other countries. Nations that do not have democracy, that is. And even some that actually do have, what we call democracy.
BUT,
Those of YOU who have actually READ THE “DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE”, “THE ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION”, and “THE CONSTITUTION”,
YOU WILL NOT FIND THE WORD “DEMOCRACY”, IS NOT MENTIONED anywhere IN ANY OF THESE DOCUMENTS.
It is mentioned in some degree in the Federalist papers, but with scorn.
SO, YOU HAVE TO WONDER, and it is a curious thing….
(WHY THE FOUNDERS OF THIS COUNTRY, THE PEOPLE WHO WROTE THESE GREAT DOCUMENTS, THE DOCUMENTS THAT WE ALL LIVE BY.
(THESE BRILLIANT AND INSPIRING DOCUMENTS, DECIDED NOT MENTION THE WORD DEMOCRACY AT ALL.))
WHY IS IT, THAT THE founders of this country, DID NOT SEEM TO THINK THE WORD “DEMOCRACY” WAS WORTH MENTIONING.
Yet today, that is all we hear. Every political speech, every media outlet, the word democracy is everywhere. We are bombarded with this notion of democracy.
REASON: They founded a “Representative Republic”, not a Democracy. based on Liberty, with certain freedoms and individual rights. like speech, the press, religion, assembly, travel, property, etc.
Democracy guarantees nothing, no liberty, and voting simply gives power to the majority, also known as “the tyranny of the masses“.
The best definition of democracy I ever heard was:
“There are three wolves and one sheep, voting on what they are going to have for dinner.”
Think about it. That’s democracy.
